The Township of Gisborne
The Township of Gisborne is set in a valley in the Macedon Ranges surround by open landscape. It’s about 50 km from Melbourne, and 17.8 km from Sunbury.
In The early years of 1834 this area was deemed for grazing sheep. How things have changed. Today Gisborne offers much more than farming land. A number of farming lands have been subdivided and new estates are developing. This once quiet town is bustling with growth. Gisborne is not as large as Sunbury but it has a lot to offer to the community and to our tourist visitors.
When coming into Gisborne the winding road slightly slops down into a valley then into the township. The historical buildings from the Courthouse to churches and other homesteads, which have been around since the 1800 are places to visit when you’re in Town.
Gisborne has a Sunday Market which starts on the 1st Sunday of each month. It’s a great day out with lots to see and buy. During the Sunday Market Day t many of local Traders opens their business for trade. From Boutiques, Fashion Shoes, Gift wear, Jewelers, Café, Bakeries, and Hotels.
SuperMarkets IGA, Foodworks and Coles are opened 7 days a week.
The Parks and gardens and the facilities such as Amenities BBQ’s and Playground Equipment are maintained with care. Sporting and Gyms are common in this area. Fitness has been a strong force with all ages.
The Gisborne Aquatic Centre is set in the heart of the township. It services many Communities and Schools. It also has a hydrotherapy program for those who suffer with injury.
Gisborne Train Station is on the Bendigo line and it is located in New Gisborne. New Gisborne is the extension suburb of Gisborne This area has two primary School. If you wanted somewhere to dine the Whistle Stop Tavern has now become the Baringo Wine Company it is nestled long side the railway line in New Gisborne its been newly renovated and tasty menus to try.
As the area expands so does the Business community. Gisborne Business group from Accountants, Doctors, Chemist, and other commercial and textile trade is offering the community its services.
